What is a Coachathon?
Congratulations on taking the step forward to promote coaching, your Chapter and yourself through signing up for the 2019 Coachathon. If you’ve ever participated in a Walk-a-Thon, you know that as the walker you collect pledges from your family, friends and co-workers/acquaintances for walking and the monies raised go towards a worthwhile cause. In a Coachathon coaches collect pledges from interested coachees for the opportunity to be coached by the Coach. That means coachees will sign up for a 30 minute or 60 minute coaching session and the suggested contribution for those sessions is $50.00 for 30 minutes and $100 for 60 minutes. All monies raised will support the ICF Chapter and the continuous learning and development activities for member Coaches and that includes providing coaching via the Community Support Program to worthwhile not-for-profit community programs by Chapter coaches.
These one-off coaching sessions with the Coach come with no obligation for the coachee to buy anything more than 30 or 60 minutes of time with the Coach. The goal is to get as many people as possible to sign up to try coaching as a way of creating awareness of the power of coaching and to raise funds for the Chapter and provide paid log coaching hours for the coach that they can use towards their accreditation towards the ACC, PCC or MCC level.
How can Coaches get involved?
All ICF Saskatchewan Chapter members are invited to participate. Once Coaches register on-line, supporting documents will be sent to the Coaches and include a Coachathon log for Coaches to record their coachees information, the amount that will be remitted to the Chapter, a letter from ICF Saskatchewan, as well as a brochure from ICF outlining what coaching is all about to share with coachees. Coachees personal information such as name, phone number and email will be kept confidential by the Coach and the Chapter and used for issuing receipts as requested and to survey coachees on their experience after the Coachathon has concluded. Survey responses will be collected and experiences reported anonymously to the Board as a way of assessing the coaching initiative and sharing lessons learned. Some reported experiences may be used in marketing the Coachathon in future.
What’s the timeframe?
The Coachathon launches on April 29 through to May 5. You can start setting up your coaching arrangements now but coaching is to take place during ICW. Coaches who wish to participate must complete the coaching during coaching week and provide the number of hours and remit the collected contributions to ICF Saskatchewan by May 8, 2019 to Brian Mitchell-Walker, Treasurer at email@example.com. Coaching appointments and payments will be made with the Coach and must be concluded by May 5, 2019. A short survey to collect feedback from participating coachees on their experience will be sent out by the Chapter after coaching has been concluded.
For Internal Coaches
Some of our internal Coaches may not have the ability to charge for coaching inside their organization because their coaching time is a part of their regular compensation. Instead this may still be an opportunity to extend the coaching offer to others in their network of non-work colleagues, volunteers or board members, community members, friends and family that might be interested in the benefits from coaching.
This is an opportunity for Coachees to support the Coach and the Chapter by trying out coaching in a single session with no obligation for more, although most coachees as we know often do want more. The benefits of coaching are to be experienced by the coachee and feedback to the Coach is most welcome. The Chapter also wants to get feedback on the experience so coachees can expect a request for feedback after coaching has been completed.
